I don't like Venice airport very much because I always end up crying when it is time to leave...and then everyone stares at this tall creature tearing away in the duty free section.
Oh Italia, it holds a special place in my heart.
Venezia was absolutely breathtaking. My aunt and I were lucky enough to find a friendly gondolier who beautifully sang romantic Italian songs while rowing along the narrow canals.
Not too far from Venice are Murano and Burano, two colourful islands that are definitely worth seeing even in the rain!
Florence stole my heart and as you can guess, is my favourite Italian city (yet). It is even dreamier in the rain. Would I live there if I could, yes? The old walls, narrow streets, smell of freshly baked pizza and tiny gelato shops make it cozy and welcoming.
...if this isn't dreamy, then I don't know what is!
The home of Romeo and Juliet has its own charm, and a structure older than the Colosseum. Verona was wonderful and blessed us with deep blue skies on cold January morning.
You don't realize how interconnected European countries are, until you are actually here. You also don't realize how relatively small they are compared to African ones. That's right, I'd need several days to drive through desert land in Northern Kenya up to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Anyways, Cape to Cairo is a "thing", and I'd very much like to do that one day...I just need to get my Landrover Defender by then...
...back to Europe! Trieste borders Slovenia, giving it its own vibe. You can hear people speaking several languages and dialects in these 'border towns'. Such towns have so much character brought about by the cultural diversity.
I am proud to call Aviano my home in Italy. There are so many picturesque sites nearby, including the Gorgazzo, Piancavallo (Italian Alps) and Lake Barcis.
During my last trip, I experienced snow for the first time and absolutely loved it. Skiing would be my sport if I lived in such a place. My cousin Lorenzo is a musician and I finally got to watch him perform in Sacile, a cozy little town close to Aviano.
Grazie to my Italian family for always making my time there so special and memorable :)
